The items held by MIT Library are organised into different collections:
These items make up the majority of the Library's holdings, and are the most visible. Staff, students, and alumni may borrow Main Collection items for 7 days.
The Teacher Reference collection contains one copy of each prescribed textbook, and may only be borrowed by each unit's lecturer or Unit Coordinator, with loans lasting the length of the Teaching Period.
This is where the Library houses fiction books and DVDs. Students, staff, and Alumni may borrow Leisure Collection items for 7 days.
The Library holds one copy of each prescribed textbook in the Counter Reserve. These are available for students and staff to borrow for two hours at a time, and may not be taken out of the Library.
