Introduction to Zotero

Zotero logo

Zotero is a free, open-source program that allows users to:

  • Create research libraries
  • Manage research inputs (articles, books, videos, etc)
  • Quickly generate in-text citations and reference list entries

Zotero is a powerful tool, and could potentially save hours many hours of work manually managing and creating references. It is recommended that Zotero only be used once you have a solid understanding of your school's referencing style (APA or IEEE).

Please watch the tutorial on this page (25 minutes) to learn more about Zotero

Head to zotero.org to download the program, web connector, and review more documentation.

Zotero styles

Make sure you're using the best, most recent, referencing style for your school.

Download your style from the Zotero Style Repository:

Remember, these styles are only mostly correct. Their outputs in your word processor will need to be reviewed. You are ultimately responsible for your work - you cannot blame Zotero if your references are incorrect.
