Sherpa Romeo - Journal Ranking Tool

Sherpa Romeo is an online platform that aggregates and analyses publisher open access policies from around the world. It also shows summaries of publisher copyright and open access archiving policies by journal title.

In terms of searching the online tool,  you can enter a journal title or issn, or publisher name below and search by search field, or browse by country or publication title. Access it here.  You can use the Advanced Search for more options, for instance, the display of policies relating to specific funding bodies. 





You can look for the title in Sherpa, using the search screen, as mentioned with by a number of variables.
 

Once you find a publication screen, you can see the Sherpa information about the title. This screenshot shows the information provided about a particular Journal - researchers can use this to look at the attributes of the journal title, and use it to make publishing option choices.

Sherpa also provides a colour code for  deposit policies of the various journal publishers so researchers can get a quick summary view;  “Green” being the most open and “White” the most restrictive. On the publication page, the default policies link retrieves a summary of the individual publisher’s policies. The page has three main documents for authors to review, copyright policy, article posting policies, and funding body information. The page also shows the various versions of an article that can be deposited. .
