Image Generation apps can produce either artistic stylised images, or photo realistic images, from prompts. They can be used to produce synthetic products, advertising visuals, educational content, amongst other things.

Midjourney is a Gen AI model produced by Dreamstudio. It operates similarly to Stable Diffusion, generating imagery from natural language prompts that users submit. It also does hands really well!

This is one of the most popular diffusion models. Produced by Dreamstudio, Stability AI’s Stable Diffusion is primarily used for text-to-image generation. It is a versatile application, with various controls to help you prompt imags. The simplest ways of using it are via two editing applications, Clipdrop and dreamstudio – this it can be downloaded and used as a standalone.
It is also open source.

Dalle-3 is the latest Gen AI software that creates images and art from text description prompts in natural language. It is now integrated with Chat GPT. Presently subscription only access, via a chat GPT pro subscription. You can simply enter prompts and Dalle-3 will create an image for you eg “an oil painting of a monkey riding a horse”
it can also be used to edit and augment existing images, and you can also alter specific parts of the image. It can be useful for graphic design and to create customised visuals. It is limited to 40 requests every 3 hours.

This is Google's AI image generator. It is currently free to use, you just need to log in with your Google account. It can produce high-quality, photo realistic outputs, even objects that are generally difficult to render, including hands. It has a range of controls available that enable you to modify and manipulate the image.
